Process Systems Engineering and Safety (ProSES) research cluster has successfully organized ProSES Open Day 2022 on 16th November 2022 at WDK 02 and Block W Foyer, UMP Gambang Campus. The objectives of this program are to introduce the ProSES research cluster team members to UMP students and promoting research activities. In addition, the program aims to attract final year students to continue their postgraduate studies at the Master and PhD levels in the Process System Engineering area.  The program attracted 65 students from Bachelor’s Degree of Chemical Engineering (BKC) and Bachelor’s Degree of Chemical Engineering Technology (BTK). It started with an introduction session of the ProSES research cluster and postgraduate opportunities by ProSES Head of Cluster, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Ruwaida Abdul Rasid. 

This is followed by an industrial talk by Ir Ts. Mohamad Khairuddin Samsuddin, Process Control Manager from BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn. Bhd. The topic of the talk is on the current trend of process system engineering in industry. The second industrial talk was given online by Mr. Kent Ooi from AspenTech. Through this talk, UMP students had a chance to learn and explore more on the Aspen Plus software and its application in the industry. The last session of the program is the poster presentation by each of the cluster members. During this presentation, the students had an opportunity to know more about the research projects done by the cluster members and available research funds for postgraduate study in UMP.

This program had received positive feedbacks from the students and ProSES research cluster is looking forward to organizing similar event with the involvement of other research clusters in FTKKP in the future.
